During the ‘Year of the Veteran’, and marking the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands, the Dutch Canadian community of the London area decided that a permanent monument was needed in London as a tribute to the sacrifice of so many Canadians, and to make sure that neither their sacrifice, or the Dutch community’s thankfulness, is never forgotten.

The monument consists of an 18 Bell Carillon and a monument that depicts the significant burial places in the Netherlands and Belgium where over 7000 Canadian soldiers have been laid to rest. OES was honoured to be invited to contribute to this project, donating all the electrical materials, services and labour for the Carillon and Monument.
