Being active and making a contribution in the community in which we live is important to us at OES. This includes supporting a variety of charities and not-for-profit projects, as well as sponsoring and encouraging our staff to get involved themselves. Paul Hogendoorn, President of OES receives a Newcomer Champion Award from the Ontario government for recognizing the international skills of newcomers and championing on their behalf in the area of employment.
During the ‘Year of the Veteran’, and marking the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands, the Dutch Canadian community of the London area decided that a permanent monument was needed in London as a tribute to the sacrifice of so many Canadians, and to make sure that neither their sacrifice, or the Dutch community’s thankfulness, is never forgotten.
