OES Scoreboards is extremely proud of their role in the record setting NHL Winter Classic between the Buffalo Sabres and Pittsburgh Penguins played in Ralph Wilson Stadium on New Years Day.  Over 71,000 fans packed the stadium to enjoy an exciting outdoor game with the OES Scoreboards Hockey Control system providing the feed to the stadium displays.

winterclassic-smThe Winter Classic 2008 had the highest viewer rating in the US for a regular season game in over a decade; an even higher rating than Wayne Gretzky’s last game played on April 18, 1999.  The CBC had the largest audience for an afternoon NHL game with a peak audience reported at 1,943,000 viewers watching the final OT shootout where Sidney Crosby put it away for the Penguins for a 2-1 win.

Ralph Wilson Stadium is home to the Buffalo Bills NFL football team where OES Scoreboards replaced the timing and scoring systems in the summer of 2007.  For the Winter Classic OES provided a Hockey Control System providing a feed to the stadium displays, which include the main screen and ribbon boards in each corner, superimposing a hockey scoreboard displaying penalties, game time, scoring, etc.  The feed also goes to the NHL scoring system, in turn feeding the TV networks.

OES has formed lasting partnerships by designing products that can be integrated into a variety of applications.  Whether it’s a portable scoreboard for an elementary school, a custom scoring system for a national team, or a production scoreboard for an industrial facility, OES is a proud supplier of scoreboards worldwide.
