New Patent for OES – remote bidding for Dutch Auction Systems
The US Patent Office granted OES, Inc. a patent for their unique Dutch Auction system allowing active participation from remote locations; United States Patent #7,409,368. The patent application was officially filed May 21, 2001, but claims priority to a provisional application filed on July 11, 2000. At declining bid auctions, decisions are made in fractions of a second and are binding. As such, it is possible to sell large amounts of items in small lot sizes very quickly. OES’s now patented system allows buyers located remotely to compete on the items offered at the auctions with buyers located at the physical auctions. “We are extremely pleased to have this patent granted.” says Paul Hogendoorn, President of OES. “OES has been a leader in developing and delivering advanced and innovative technology to this market, from the development of the first electronic “auction clock” in 1983, on through to the remote bidding technology now protected by this patent, and continuing on with other exciting auction advancements and technology developments soon to be deployed.” Although the auction systems are only a small part of OES’s business activities, Hogendoorn goes on to say that “OES has a deep and genuine commitment to our customers in this marketplace”, most of which are farmer owned, or grower cooperatives. A recipient of the inaugural 2008 Delphi Technology Pinnacle Award for Supplier Excellence, OES Inc. develops and deploys innovative and effective technology solutions for a wide range of applications, including in-process test and monitoring systems, scoring and timing systems, and custom application solutions such as Dutch Auction systems.
