OES Time of Day clocks, and many of the OES Scoreboards that have the option of displaying time of day when not in use, have the option of auto-correcting for daylight savings time; this option is set using a hardware setting within the units. Up to now the feature has been designed to put the clock ahead one hour on the first Sunday of April and the clock back one hour on the last Sunday of October. Starting in 2007 the majority of North America, where most of these products are located, will be switching the times of year when the daylight savings time takes effect. The times are now the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November. Our current products in the field will not be able to handle this change, new products shipped after April 3, 2006 will.
For the current products in the field, if DST is selected and nothing else is changed, the clock will have to be corrected four times each year (Once for setting it properly during the new DST times, and once for correcting the old DST times). Here is what can be done:
